Ma Fi Mushkila

(There are no problems)

Slow Week

'Boss man' was out of town this week, so it was mostly work and language school. Sounds like this week will be fairly slow as well, but we're meeting to talk about the budget app tomorrow, so I can start working on that soon!

Syrian Strings

I splurged a little and bought a guitar from a nearby shop... Nearby as in 30 minutes up straight stairs all the way (like in Ace Ventura 2, I need to get a slinky).

The build is a little rough around the edges, but it looks really cool and it scratches the guitar itch I've had the last 3 weeks.

I have successfully purchased milk and meat this week. I even found some peanut butter and cereal. My bank card still isn't 100% yet, so I'm doing a lot of travelling to get money from the only ATM that accepts my card, but at least I've figured out groceries! (mostly...)

About that ping-pong...

Okay so when my teacher gave me that ping-pong paddle to 'take home and practice', that was a joke. He said he was looking for it to play with another student... In my defense, he looked really serious when he said it and he didn't take it back from me. (Ma fi mushkila!) He tells me a lot of Arabic 'dad jokes' that I am incapable of getting, which I think makes them even better dad jokes on the dad joke scale. I'm also getting featured in the school's instagram account (like a couple times a week), which is fun because he doesn't do a script, so I just stumble in arabic until he gives up each time.

Prayer Requests

I'm searching for more opportunities to be a blessing to my community here. Prayers for guidance and wisdom from the Lord in my search are appreciated. This region could also use prayers as all of the surrounding countries are plagued with war and conflict. Pray for the refugees as they try to find safety and pray for their host countries, that they'll continue to bless refugees and not harden their hearts to the hardships of others.

My arabic teacher said something that stuck with me at our conversation practice this week: "this land is not my land or your land, this is God's land. Refugees are our guests here and they are welcome. If you come to my home to live, ma fi mushkila"

God bless,
